First post of Berkeley Nostalgia
Berkeley has been the best four years of my life, and I am beginning to suspect I will never again live somewhere so wholly concentrated in its devotion to learning, where a walk across campus could unspool into a conversation with the giants who's shoulders I stand upon. It will be difficult to move from this environment. What I'm afraid of, now that the end is in sight, is the slow forgetting that tends to follow: the days filling up with busy work, my curiosity waning, forgetting how to be a student
The resolution behind these posts isto learn something each day, and to leave short, or if the occasion warrants it, detailed notes about it here. The bar is deliberately low, so the point is habit, rather than perfection. It serves as an effort to continue being a student until I'm hopefully back at Berkeley doing my PhD. It is also, quietly, a smoke test: I'm typing this on a new laptop, and if you're reading it, the move survived itself.
